About the photo

In this photography project, the central theme revolves around the dynamic relationship between natural light and the urban environment. Cities are often perceived as harsh, mechanical places, full of concrete and steel; yet, the way sunlight filters through narrow streets, reflects off windows, or casts shadows on brick walls reveals an unexpected softness and nuance—the project aimed to capture these subtle moments of light playing with texture, form, and color.

Every romantic notion I’ve ever conjured up for a modern yet timeless sun-drenched wedding album is perfectly encapsulated in every image Jen Huang creates — from delicate details and décor to tantalizing food shots and couture-clad, gorgeous brides, Jen’s images have it all, and then some.

By shooting during golden hours—early mornings and late afternoons—the photographs embrace warm, diffused lighting that enhances the mood and brings out rich details. The challenge was to find stillness in an otherwise frenetic environment, to pause and observe the way light transformed common spaces into compelling scenes. This body of work intentionally avoids crowded, busy shots; instead, it focuses on quiet corners, reflections in puddles, or sunbeams breaking through foliage lining a city park. The goal was to create a series that not only documents architecture but also evokes a sense of tranquility and intimacy. Viewers are invited to reconsider their everyday surroundings, to appreciate how natural elements like light can soften urban rigidity and contribute to the city’s evolving personality. Through careful composition and timing, this project captures fleeting beauty and encourages a mindful appreciation of our built environment.
